Do Pesticides Improve Lives?

The answer is a resounding YES. . .with certain conditions.

If proper care is not taken, pesticides can harm the environment by contaminating soil, surface and ground water, and ultimately kill wildlife. But without the use of pesticides, food production would decline, many fruits and vegetables would be in short supply and prices would rise. And our homes would be invaded by all kinds of insect pests and rodents. By the way, the first recorded use of chemicals to control pests dates back to 2500 BC.

Pesticides and rodenticides save millions of lives by controlling vectors of diseases/infections like malaria, plagues, yellow fever, dengue fever and many others. And they keep our living conditions clean and livable.

The bottom line . . .we use pesticides ONLY when/where necessary and take care to see that they are applied minimally and properly.
